Unveiling 'Rangoli Graffiti': A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity in Watercolor Art"
I’m thrilled to introduce my latest art collection!
"Rangoli Graffiti" is a series of 8 watercolor artworks inspired by the intricate beauty of rangoli, a traditional Indian folk art. Rangoli, known as "an art of decoration," is typically created on the floor at the entrance of homes to bring luck, prosperity, and welcome guests.
Traditional rangoli designs range from simple shapes to elaborate symbols such as peacocks, flowers, and paisleys, all unified by their vibrant colors. Each state in India has its unique style and name for rangoli. It is not uncommon to find random rangoli art adorning the street pavements, especially during festivals much like how graffiti art brightens urban public spaces.
In this collection, I’ve captured the vivid, colorful essence of rangoli and blended it with the contemporary energy of graffiti, creating a unique fusion that celebrates cultural tradition and modern creativity. Each artwork, measuring 9 inches by 12 inches. is painted with watercolor and embellished with white and gold gel pen to highlight the rangoli-inspired designs.
