I first discovered Kyoto Color Soft Pastels when a friend gifted me a set for my birthday. I had never worked with pastels before, so I was curious to see how they could fit into my art practice. I use these pastels in two main ways: As a flat background color and as a base layer or underpainting for watercolor designs. Read this post to learn more about my favorite techniques!
There are two ways that I love drawing and painting botanical art. First is line art infused with watercolor. And the second way is direct painting over a quick pencil sketch. I love this project, because I’ve created my very own collection of botanical art note cards.
