Exploring Acrylic Inks in my Latest Original Artwork Collection

I’m excited to share my first original artwork collection of 2026: Simple Trees. This mini collection of four abstract trees is intended to evoke feelings of growth, abundance, and stability - themes that feel especially meaningful as the new year begins.

Simple Trees - Acrylic Ink on handmade paper
Each piece is hand-painted with acrylic inks on handmade, textured paper and embellished with pen and ink details. I love how the rough texture of the paper adds character and depth, making every tree unique. The combination of flowing acrylic ink and precise pen work creates a balance between spontaneity, design, and structure.

The creative process for this series started with loose, pencil-drawn abstract tree forms. Next, I painted the background and filled in the tree shape, layering the acrylic ink colors to create vibrancy. Once dry, I added pen and ink details to bring a unique pattern to each piece. The result is a small series of trees that are bright, colorful, and visually engaging.

Each tree also carries its own energy through color. From calming blue to bright pink, orange, and purple, each palette represents an expression of growth, reflection, and hope. These pieces aren’t just decorative - they’re meant to bring meaning and intention into a space.

Working with acrylic inks on handmade paper was a joy and a learning experience. I love the way colors appear on textured paper, and how pen details add an additional level of interest. This series has opened up new directions for me, and I’m excited to continue experimenting with acrylic ink and expressive techniques in future collections.

I hope these pieces inspire you as much as they inspired me while creating them.
