I am so honored and thrilled to announce that Divine NY & Co. has been selected as Best Style Business of the Year at the 2012 Stiletto Woman in Business Awards (SWIBA)!
The event was held in Atlanta, GA on March 17, 2012. The SWIBA Awards is a celebration designed to inspire, educate and recognize women doing brilliant work in their solo and micro businesses.
Danielle Knox Ross, an award winning journalist, host of Lifetime Television’s “The Balancing Act” and co-founder of Play Pretty Beauty gave an inspiring Keynote address on overcoming challenges.
Shirley Strawberry, co-host on the national syndicated radio show “The Steve Harvey Morning Show” shared lessons from her new book “Strawberry Tips” and presented us all with a signed copy!
Robyn Spizman presented the afternoon keynote address. Robyn is Vice President of Tony Conway’s A Legendary Event, a full-service, award-winning $15 million special events company. She is also a well known media personality and New York Times bestselling author.
Throughout the day we participated in several strategy sessions: “Relationship Marketing in a New Economy” by Antoinette Sykes, “How much is your dream worth” by Amy Barnes and “Get What you want with what you already have” by Kelly Lynn Adams.
It was a truly rewarding experience to be surrounded by other like-minded, successful and driven women entrepreneurs.

March has been off to an eventful start! I was thrilled to be one of the 100 women selected to attend Martha Stewart’s Dreamers Into Doers here at MSLO headquarters in New York City last week March 6-7!
Day 1 started with a live taping of Martha Stewart’s show, followed by two packed days of workshops and seminars specifically geared to help and inspire the creative entrepreneur.
Workshops included presentations by Deluxe for Business who spoke about Insider Secrets to Effective PR; the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck shared insight on how they used social media to build their brand; Karen Lee, Eco ETSY team leader gave us tips on how to “green” our business and save money. On Day 2 we learned from the Martha Stewart Living product developers and staff editors on digital marketing and business and watched a craft demonstration on how to use freezer paper to create stencils! 
We were pampered with delicious lunches and not to mention the wonderful desserts! And we walked away with a generous swag bag full of goodies by the other Dreamers Into Doers attendees, Martha Stewart Living magazines plus samples of her new home office line, which I love!
MSLO headquarters is housed in the historic Starret-Lehigh Building in Chelsea. You can feel the creative magic as soon as you walk in: a spacious open concept layout where the cubes and offices have clear see-thru walls and windows; there are rows of Mac computers and everyone is engaged in a creative project!
The concrete gray floors complement the pristine white walls to create a wonderful neutral toned office color palette. It’s a perfect color palette for a creative environment as white inspires new beginnings and ideas. It clears clutter and brings about mental clarity. 
Posted on almost every wall, bulletin board and even laid out on the floor are numerous design boards and concept ideas for products, prints, colors, fabrics, designs – wow it is a designers heaven! It’s a color palette that resonates with my style: start with a neutral base and use accessories to add the pop of color. In this case, the design boards created by the staff added lots of color and style to the pristine white/gray walls.

We’ll be launching our new collection of pillows made with hand-woven and hand-dyed batik fabrics from Chantal, an artisan from rural Togo. At Divine NY & Co., part of our mission is to help women artisans around the world and by purchasing our batik cloth from Chantal and others like her, we give them a opportunity to earn a fair wage that will help change their lives, support their families and expand their businesses. .
We’ll also have our new collection of sari throws made from both recycled and new saris designed and hand-crafted locally in New York City. Let us help you custom design a sari throw in colors to suit your home style. We work with the women of Wishwas, a non-profit organization with operations in Queens and Brooklyn that provides underprivileged immigrant women in the NYC area an opportunity to earn a fair wage while acquiring new skills.
