Bedding Décor: Comfort, Design & Personalization

by Rekha on May 12, 2015

As we approach the summer months, I’m starting to think about sprucing up my bedroom décor by infusing it with new color, pattern and texture. When decorating a bedroom, the main three elements I focus on are: comfort, design and personalization.

Comfort
Comfort, of course starts with bedding and linens! In terms of bedding color, my preference leans towards a neutral palette. I love this linen blend duvet set by Parachute Home. The simple stripe pattern allows for endless decorating possibilities; pair with colorful accent pieces such as throw pillows, lighting, wall art and other decorating accessories.

Design
Once you’ve decided on your color palette, the fun begins! Take an inventory of what you have and decide what you want to keep, throw away or put in storage for seasonal use later. In my opinion, you’ll want to keep your bedroom free of electronic gadgets! Keep the laptops, cell phones, iPads or other electronic devices in your home office or in another part of your home. Your bedroom décor should create a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.

Personalization
If you are a DIY-er like me, then personalization is easy! Browse home décor magazines for inspiration but instead of copying a look, figure out what caught your eye. Make note of the color, texture, print, form and functionality. Then take the time to explore your creative side and create a decorative accent piece that you will be proud to display! You don’t have to be a trained fine artist; all you really need is the desire and dedication. One easy way to add your own touch is to print photos on canvas and hang as wall art.
